  hi i was just looking for some advice.

  i have been studying with the jw's for over a year now, and attended 2 memorials and the district/assembly conventions.

  at first, and up until very recently i truly believed what i was learning was the truth.

  If you're up for it . . . then use the strategy Black Sheep suggested . . . the truth is they will probably label you a waste of time fairly quickly and leave you alone. If they feel there's still a chance for you . . . you will continue to get contacted (they 'count' this time spent which is quite important to them) . . . maybe even for months to come.

  If you want a clean break . . . you need to stand your ground against their indoctrination process.

  Keep us posted whatever you do . . . we are interested.

  Your natural sense of disquiet at this time is actually serving you well . . . question EVERYTHING . . . it's a life-changing decision to become a JW and you need to research such a decision thoroughly. Friendships, aquaintances, potential dissappointment are poor reasons for joining a religion . . . especially this one.

  Take heed of the above suggestions . . . jwfacts.com and freeminds.org will provide you with reliable information

  And please . . . don't sacrifice time with your husband . . . or family . . . they should be the most important people in your life . . . bar none.

  In general, what is the ethically correct response if a minor tells you someone is molesting him/her?

  i was thinking about what the elders are trained to do versus what i personally would do if a minor confided in me that someone was molesting him/her.

  i'm not sure what the ethically correct first response should be.

  my first thought is to contact some kind of law enforcement that specializes in investigating situations like this with people experienced in getting to the truth of the matter.

  You must know by now that a good many of the posters here, like myself, have spent 20,30,40 years or more in this Organisation all over the world. Yet you come on here with your sanctimonious dissertations to tell us all "how it is"

  I have been involved in sexual impropriety toward minors in various capacities involving communications from branch offices and Brooklyn, and none have ever resembled the steps taken in your post. More than half involved MS's or Elders. In the great majority of cases parents were intimidated into not advising the authorities "for the sake of God's name".

  This organisation cares more about it's reputation, than destroying the lives of a few thousand children and their families, and that is a fact.

  Take your pail of whitewash and keep painting your own grave white . . . it aint going to hide anything here

  So God proved to all that we do need him. . . . how is this more than "just proving a point" ... ?

  And who can truly understand God since we cannot possibly know what he knows or sees? . . . agreed . . . why should I worship something nobody understands?

  Motives Behind JW Lies

  i know that in religions, they do what they do because it is about politics and money.

  those are the motives behind why religions are the way they are and do what they do.

  but can someone tell me what would be the motive(s) of jw's lieing and controling their participants (for lack of a better word)?

  kjw53 . . . apart from being off-topic . . . have you considered that those evil people that slew their brothers in a frenzy of patriotism might also have been making a moral stand for freedom? . . . a freedom you now enjoy to the extent that you can freely practice your religion and even come on the internet and extol it's wonderful virtues? Jesus Christ also said "No man has greater love than this, that he should lay down his life for his friends". I think those that made the supreme sacrifice to remove the despotic Adolf Hitler in order to give you these freedoms . . . would rather you just said "thank you"

  what makes me. A liitle reflection from today

  this has not been a happy day, a stress free day for me as i am sure some of you know.. but it has given me pause to dig inside to see why i fight to be heard.

  why i seemed to have played a part in such a mess with a moderator and other members.. going back a number of years in to the wt, one large event occured where i was not able to make my self understood by my accusers.

  no matter how hard i tried to get my veiw accross, the harder it became to be understood.

  this place has become far to jw ish for my liking.. free expression and rights to make reply are shut down by those who hold the key.. this forum is turning into an uber christian outreach program with those who take umbridge to them getting locked and deleted threads.

  it would perhaps not be so bad if the moderators actually communicated to people such as myself rather than cold cutting.

  they complain when we make a public outcry and tell us it belongs in a private message, yet cannot see 'the straw in their own eye' and do not use the private messages to communicate why they have done what they do.
